QUINOA – LENTIL BURGERS

QUINOA – LENTIL BURGERS taste not only delicious, but also they’re full of plant based protein and packed with high amounts of vitamins and minerals. In fact, quinoa and green lentil are two foods that count as superfoods. These burgers are tasty enough to stand on their own, but served with vegetables or buns can work great as a healthy lunch idea.

 

Ingredients:

1 cup of green lentil

1 cup of quinoa

½ onion

2 pieces of garlic

1 egg

2 tablespoons of flour ( I used brown rice flour )

1- 1.5 teaspoon of salt

Some olive oil to bake the burgers

 

Directions:

  1. Rise 1 cup of lentil. In the pot, place 2 cups of water. Cooking green lentil takes around 20 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, cook quinoa. Rinse one cup of quinoa under the water. In the pot place 2 cups of water. You can add some salt. It should be ready in 15 minutes.
  3. Cut and fried onion with garlic on the little amount of olive oil.
  4. Let the lentil and quinoa cool down.
  5. Next, place lentil and quinoa into a bowl. Mix it by spoon.
  6. Add fried onion and garlic, mix it.
  7. Add egg and flour.
  8. Blend it everything by using blender.
  9. Shape into burger patties Makes the balls, baked on the pan.
  10. I normally fry quinoa lentil burger patties on the pan, by using a little bit of olive oil.  But you can also bake them in the oven. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and bake it for 15 minutes, then flip andbake another 10 or more minutes until golden.

They are plant based. However, to make them vegan, you should exchange the egg and use  for instance Flax egg.
